ReSPECT stands for Recommended Summary Plan for Emergency Care Treatment. The ReSPECT process creates personalised recommendations for a person’s clinical care and treatment if there's an emergency in the future that would leave them unable to discuss what's important to them.
Many parts of England and Scotland have now adopted the ReSPECT process. You can find out more from https://www.resus.org.uk/respect
The Patient Guide is available in various different languages and there are also resources to support patients with a learning disability.
